communications & development internEnvironmental Advocates of New York seeks a Communications and Development Intern. Environmental Advocates of New York's mission is to protect our air, land, water, and wildlife and the health of all New Yorkers. Based in Albany, we monitor state government, evaluate proposed laws, and champion policies and practices that will ensure the responsible stewardship of our shared environment. We work to support and strengthen the efforts of New York's environmental community and to make our state a national leader. DESCRIPTION Environmental Advocates of New York is the state’s government watchdog for environmental issues in Albany. Our organization has more than 10,000 members, and we focus on issues as diverse as climate change, renewable energy, hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”), water pollution and water quality, and removing toxic chemicals from the products we use every day. The person in this position will support a three-person development team and two-person communications team. Likely responsibilities include:
We require a 15 hour/week commitment. Scheduling is flexible. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for an individual who is committed to environmental conservation, is interested in gaining experience in a fun, fast-paced setting, and wants to gain and/or build skills specifically within the areas of communications and fundraising. Individuals with technical experience, such as web development, web design and/or database management knowledge, are also encouraged to apply. COMPENSATION While Environmental Advocates of New York is not able to offer financial support for this position, we will assist in arranging credit for students through their schools, and will provide strong references for the right person.
