Call for
Carbon Cap for Power Plants
Ask Governor Pataki to Address Global Warming in State Energy Planning
Groups from across New York released a letter to Governor Pataki urging state action on the serious problem of global warming, reiterating that states can and should take actions to reduce the pollution that causes global warming and simultaneously bring public health and air quality co-benefits to residents. Specifically, the groups called for a statewide cap on carbon dioxide emissions from the power plant sector. Carbon dioxide (CO2) from power plants should be limited using a phased-in cap and trade program.
