Global Warming Summit Set for Wednesday

Speakers Include Bill McKibben, Mark Van Putten

 

 

                        When: Wednesday, November 20, 2002

                        Time: 9:00AM to 5:00PM

                        Place: Meeting Room 6, Empire State Plaza

 

 

Grassroots activists from across New York State will meet Wednesday in the Capital to discuss founding a statewide climate change network. Global warming is the single greatest threat to the health of the earth and its people. Over 100 community leaders working on climate change issues in New York have signed up to participate in the Summit.

 

Highlights of the day will include:

            Keynote address by Bill McKibben, author of The End of Nature. 10:00AM to 10:45AM. McKibben is one of the country’s leading experts on the long-range environmental impacts of global warming.

            Luncheon Address by Mark Van Putten, CEO and President of the National Wildlife Federation. 12:30PM to 1:30PM. Van Putten will speak on The Need for State and Local Leadership on Global Warming.
