Environmental Advocates of New York Calls for Dedicated Clean Energy Funds
in Testimony to Assembly Hearing on the Renewable Portfolio Standard
WHO: At a public hearing to examine New York’s renewable energy program—the Renewable Portfolio Standard—Robert Moore, Executive Director, Environmental Advocates of New York, will call to keep renewable energy funds dedicated to support clean energy sources, such as wind and solar power. Moore will also ask that these funds continue to be administered by the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) and go directly to support clean energy and energy-efficiency programs—and not into the general budget.
“The state’s clean energy funds are an investment in New York’s future,” says Moore. “Keeping the Renewable Portfolio Standard dedicated to clean energy helps stabilize energy prices and supplies. Our clean energy and energy-efficiency programs are already saving New Yorkers money and reducing air pollution.”
Robert Moore will be available to speak after giving his testimony. He will be available to address the importance of dedicated funding for renewable energy development and to correct the fallacies perpetuated by some anti-wind activists.
WHAT: Assemblyman Paul Tonko, Chairman of the Committee on Energy and Assemblyman Ryan Karben, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Renewable Energy, called the public hearing on New York State’s clean energy program to examine policies and implementation plans.
