Bob Bourque is a scientist/lawyer. He holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Rochester and a JD from Columbia Law School. He spent three decades with the New York City –based international law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where he was a partner in the Litigation Department and the Intellectual Property Practice Group.
His practice concentrated on scientific and technology issues, including representing some of the world’s leading pharmaceutical, biotech, and semiconductor companies. He co-founded the firm’s Environmental Practice Group and was one of New York City’s leading environmental lawyers, representing many diverse organizations and, on a pro bono basis, major environmental advocacy organizations.
Since his 2011 retirement from Simpson Thacher, Bob has continued his volunteer efforts in environmental protection and conservation.
